Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Program

The Watershed Protection Program's pollution assessment staff conducts ongoing monitoring activities in Los Angeles creeks, rivers, lakes and ocean to assist LA Sanitation (LASAN) in assessing, monitoring and protecting LA’s watersheds.

Through the collection and analysis of samples during both dry and wet weather, staff assess the chemical, physical and biological impacts of urban runoff on receiving waters, help in the characterization of pollutant loads, identify the sources of pollutants and measure the effectiveness of pollutant controls.
