Glenoaks and Filmore Green Street

Project Location

The Glenoaks-Filmore Green Street Project (Project) is located in Council District 7, in the Pacoima area of Los Angeles. The Project is located in a residential neighborhood and its 120-acre drainage area is bordered by Filmore Avenue to the south, Glenoaks Boulevard to the west, Paxton Street to the north and Dronfield Avenue to the east.

Project Description

The Project uses green stormwater infrastructure to capture stormwater runoff and infiltrate it into underground aquifers. In a normal year, the Project has the potential to capture and infiltrate 28 million gallons of stormwater. The project utilizes a bioswale and drywell system as well as a permeable concrete gutter. Planted trees provide additional greening of the neighborhood.

  • Infiltrates of stormwater into the San Fernando Valley Groundwater Basin
  • Reduces localized flooding
  • Removes pollutants such as trash, bacteria, metals and nutrients from stormwater runoff
  • Assists Los Angeles complying with federal, state and local water quality standards and regulations

Project Cost and Partners

The Project cost was $3.24 million with funding provided by LA Sanitation and Environment, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and California State Coastal Conservancy.
